11/20/2017 0 Comments November 20th, 2017The first time I started messing around with cameras, I had no idea what I was doing. I Thought it was as easy as just pointing it in a direction and taking a picture. How wrong was I. I was 10 years old then and was given the camera for Christmas, I loved to take pictures but they weren't anything special, in fact, they were terrible. A few years latter when I was 14 my brother took a photography class in college. His final project was to take an indirect photo of the sun so he shot through a puff of needles on a tree. After some editing it became a beautiful picture. This got me excited about photography and I wanted to explore it for myself. Come sophomore year I was given the opportunity to take a digital photography class at Saline High School. I was excited to learn how to make my pictures go from bad, to great. At first we did a lot of lecturing, we didn’t get the cameras out until 3 days in. The lecturing though was probably the best thing for my skills as a photographer. Mr.Bush taught us how to not only take great pictures, but edit them to make them even better. He gave us the means to become good photographers, it was up to me to run with it. My pictures slowly got better. My editing skills improved much faster than my skills behind the camera but they also increased over time. The techniques and the settings control we learned continued to evolve as we took more and more pictures. Mr.Bush's jokes continued to usher forward our silence, and my friends and me explored the school, opening our photographic eye. With everything we learned and everything we did, we gained a new view of the world, one that I wouldn't trade for anything.

11/13/2017 0 Comments First PersonOn this photo assignment I set out to teach myself how to shoot first person perspective shots with my camera. The most difficult part of this assignment was having to line up he shot as if you were looking at it with your own eyes. This was particularly difficult because it often resulted in me having to rap my arms around the camera and have another person take the shot as I held up my arms and set myself up with the view finder. Shutter Speed: 1/125
Aperture: f/3.5 ISO: 100 To edit this picture I turned down the vibrancy and turned up the clarity. 11/10/2017 0 Comments Multiple meMultiple me was my final DP project with a cool concept. The goal of the assignment was to take multiple pictures and stack them on top of each other to give the appearance of there being multiples of me. This assignment was difficult in that it requires a lot of editing and multiple pictures of the same scene without moving the camera. Any deviation caused the picture to not work. When editing this photo I had to create multiple layer masks in order to reveal the multiple different pictures of me. I also pasted in a picture of ducks to give the picture more life.
11/7/2017 0 Comments PortraitsThe goal of this assignments was to take portraits in a studio and in window light to show the differences between the two and to teach us techniques on how to take these photos.
11/6/2017 0 Comments NatureThe goal of this assignment was to take pictures of things in nature. It was particularly hard because there was very bad weather witch took away my options but also gave me som interesting pictures. shutter speed: 1/30
Aperture: f/5.6 ISO: 200 10/30/2017 0 Comments Black and WhiteThe Goal of this assignment was to take pictures and convert them to black and white. The hardest part of this assignment was finding what to take pictures of because it was not specific. Shutter speed: 1/125
Aperture: f/5.6 ISO: 100 In order to make this picture I Cropped it in tighter and turned the saturation all the way down. I also turned up the clarity a bit and up played the shadows. 10/30/2017 0 Comments PanoramicsThe goal of this assignment was to create 5 panoramic around the school and to play around with this technique. A pano is attempted by stitching together multiple photos that were taken in a line to capture more of the environment. 10/23/2017 0 Comments Still lifeThe goal of this assignment was to take pictures of ideas like advertisements. This project was simple but finding the right angle was a difficult task to achieve. Shutter speed: 1/80
Aperture: F3.5 ISO: 400 In this picture I made the picture brighter and cropped the image to pull more focus towards the lens of the camera. 10/19/2017 0 Comments School contexIn this assignment I used photoshop to input different elements into a photo to change its meaning. This was done with simple things around the school like a locker in this instance.
10/16/2017 7 Comments Light PaintingLight painting is a technique used to create interesting pictures out of light. It is achieved by taking a light source and shining it at a camera during a long shutter speed like 4". In this case I used a pair of lightsabers as a light source. Aperture: f/8
ISO: 200 Sutter Speed: 4" In order to create the picture I had to increase the shadows extremely and downplay the whites a little. I also cropped the image in closer and increased the vibrancy. |
